Committed to Helping You for Over 15 Years

Our firm's commitment to resolving your financial and legal challenges shows in our history. Firm founder and bankruptcy attorney Ann Shaw is one of the few lawyers on Maryland's Eastern Shore who has practiced bankruptcy law both before our current recession and before sweeping changes to the bankruptcy laws were enacted in 2005. Ann Shaw has practiced bankruptcy law for decades and has provided Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy services as well as business bankruptcy services in Salisbury since 1990.

In addition to helping individuals and businesses obtain debt relief through consumer or business bankruptcy, we offer alternative solutions tailored to resolve our clients' financial problems. For individuals facing home foreclosure, we provide mortgage modification services (together with co-counsel who has a proven record of success) and foreclosure mediation services focused on avoiding and alleviating the pain of foreclosure.

Prominent Figures in Changing Maryland's Laws—to Protect You

At The Law Firm of Shaw & Crowson, P.A., we don't just stay abreast of changing bankruptcy laws. We are active in promoting changes to the law as well.

Ann Shaw and other members of the Eastern Shore Bankruptcy Bar Association facilitated changes in Maryland's bankruptcy exemption laws. Changes in these laws doubled the amount of exemptions bankruptcy filers in Maryland are allowed to claim. Additionally, Ms. Shaw along with Alexander Gordon, IV, founder of the Eastern Shore Bankruptcy Bar Association vigorously pursued a new Homestead Exemption for debtors filing for bankruptcy in Maryland, which went into effect October 1, 2010.

Ann Shaw was involved in the promotion of Maryland's Protection of Homeowners in Foreclosure Act (PHIFA), a law that has protected homeowners since 2005
